| Abstract. | Kazan Federal University (Kazan State (Imperial) University) is the second oldest university in the Russian Federation. Architecture of it’s complex has a very interesting history, which is described in many books and articles. But one period of it’s reconstruction, devoted to the 100 year anniversary of the University at the beginning of XX century, is not enough mentioned. This period is associated with famous architect K.L. Mufke (1868-1933), who was appointed to a position of the university architect-constructor in 1899. He not only reconstructed the Main building of University and built the Western Wing of it, he also created a number of projects for other building for the KFU faculties in different places in Kazan, which, unfortunately, were not built because of the financial problems. Researching of that period is important in studying the history of the University and also of the creative work of K.L. Mufke. Description of that projects helped us to discover some new facts about Mufke as the outstanding master architect of constructing the educational buildings. |
