Title of the articleThe electro-steel-smelting slag JSC «Izhstal» for cements of low water demand and concrete on their basis
Abstract.The most important direction of development of the construction industry is the production of materials and products based on local raw materials, including the use of large-tonnage industrial waste. Therefore, ferrous metallurgy is a potential source of raw materials for production of construction materials. Introduction of electro-steel-smelting slag in cement production became possible thanks to the Russian scientists, who developed the technology of cements of low water demand. The investigated cements of low water demand were made by joint milling of binder, electro-steel-smelting slag OJSC «Izhstal» and plasticizers. We have considered the influence of electro-steel-smelting slag on the formation of structure and properties of cement, fine-grained and heavy concrete. We achieved to reduce the water demand of concrete on the basis of cements of low water demand and a significant increase of the grade strength of the concrete. Thus, we have proved the effectiveness of the use of electro-steel-smelting slag as aggregate for cements of low water demand.
