Title of the article | Integration of transport hubs into the urban environment |
Abstract. | The provisions of the conception of transit-oriented development of territories make it possible to organize urban development that is comfortable for the population. The purpose of the study is to determine the principles for the formation of transit-oriented territories in residential development with a focus on public transport. To achieve this goal, the following objectives were identified: 1. the study of international experience in the design and implementation of projects for the formation of residential development with respect to transit-oriented territories; 2. determination of the characteristic features of the formation of transit-oriented territories, with a focus on public transport. Results. As a result of the study, the experience of design, development and housing development of land under the conditions of transit-oriented approach was reviewed using the example of cities in Malaysia, France, Denmark, and Great Britain. Principles for the formation of transit-oriented territories were identified, such as: concentration of high-intensity development, fullness of public functions; combination of residential, work, shopping and entertainment facilities; formation of urban pedestrian spaces based on alleys; adaptation of the urban environment to bicycle infrastructure; environmental friendliness based upon financial incentives. Conclusions. The significance of the results obtained for urban planners and architects lies in the opportunity to take into account in their work the principles of the formation of transit-oriented territories, which will provide easy access to public transport and create conditions that make the area attractive for transit passengers. |
