Title of the articleInvestigation of the boundaries of levels of service on a medium-sized citys road network
Abstract.Problem statement. To address issues related to traffic management and the development of measures to improve the quality of transport services for the urban population, an objective assessment of the quality of street and road networks is necessary. The methods developed to date for assessing the quality of transport services are based on comparing the speeds of cars in the time period under study and the speeds of single cars. In order to form a reasonable approach to determining the indicators of the level of service and the level of convenience of traffic in the road network, it is necessary to conduct research aimed at determining the speeds of single vehicles. Such studies will become the basis of methodological support for determining the level of service and the level of convenience of movement on the street and road networks of medium-sized cities of the Russian Federation. The objectives of the work are: to measure the speed of vehicles in free conditions in a laboratory car and stationary observation posts and to statistically process the data obtained, to establish the boundaries of the level of convenience of movement and the level of service for traffic conditions on the street and road networks of medium-sized cities. Results. The paper presents the results of studies of the speeds of single cars on the road network of a medium-sized city (using the example of Vladikavkaz). According to the research results, the boundaries of the level of convenience of movement and the level of service on the network of streets of citywide, district and local importance are proposed. Conclusions. The research results are the scientific basis for determining indicators of traffic comfort levels on the streets of medium-sized cities in the traffic conditions of the Russian Federation.
