| Abstract. | Problem statement. The preservation of the nation’s health is a priority area of the public policy. Nowadays, this area undergoes global challenges. They are population ageing, rise in mortality caused by dangerous diseases, decline in efficiency and availability of healthcare services. The current situation points out the necessity of making global changes, including changes in the area of urban planning. The goal of this paper is to develop a typological model of the spatial distribution of healthcare facilities in large metropolitan areas. Results. The analysis of government programs and the development strategies of the healthcare system let us define the present-day trends in our area of research. As a result of the analysis of the home and foreign practices of operation of healthcare facilities, a typological model of the spatial distribution of healthcare facilities in large metropolitan areas was developed. Conclusion. In order to increase the efficiency of operation of healthcare facilities, it is necessary to implement the discrete-network model of the distribution of healthcare facilities. |
