| Title of the article | Experimental assessment of the impact of the complexity of services on the attractiveness of multifunctional roadside service areas |
| Abstract. | The roadside service system on the highways of the Russian Federation, which has been created for decades, now suffers from low efficiency and attractiveness due to the spontaneous placement of facilities and the lack of an integrated approach to meeting the needs of drivers, which reduces road safety and the comfort of participants. The purpose of the work is to experimentally assess the impact of the complex of roadside services on the amount of demand from road users using the example of the federal highways M-7 and M-12. The research tasks are to make an experimental assessment of the demand for roadside services using the example of the M-7 and M-12 highway sections; to identify the dependence of the level of consumer demand on the set of services at the roadside service facility. The results of the experiment showed that the expansion of the range of services, especially by adding large shops and catering facilities significantly increases the performance of the exit and the duration of the stop. The proposed estimated indicators provide a sufficiently objective description of the efficiency of the operation of roadside service facilities. Conclusions. For the first time, an indicator called “driving rest conversion” was proposed, which quantifies the ability of a roadside service facility to retain customers for a good rest, and not just for short-term maintenance. It was also noted that the development of multifunctional zones not only redistributes traffic, but also increases the overall attractiveness of roadside infrastructure, helping to reduce driver fatigue and improve the rest quality. |
