| Abstract. | Problem statement. This article examines historic, cultural, and town planning background for creation of Kazan river port complex, as well as its stages of development. Results. The main results consist of the research in discovering the process of the formation of the port territories of Kazan and the influence of their location on the development of the urban structure, highlighting the reasons for the port’s transfer to a new place in the Soviet period. Research also includes studying historical, urban planning and socio-economic aspects that influenced the choice of the territory under construction. The article identifies the origins of the formation of the river station as the center of the composition of the river port. Its architectural and urban concept. The current state of the river port is considered, its problems are indicated. Conclusions. The importance of the received results for architecture lies in revealing the value of the river port of Kazan as part of the national historical and architectural heritage. The river port in Kazan was formed under the influence of a number of different factors, the sum of which, as a result, determined its current location and significance for the city structure and history. |
