Title of the articleDevelopment of requirements for basic properties of foamed ceramics
Abstract.Nowadays, issues of resource and energy consumption in the production and use of construction ceramics is paid much attention. Therefore, in recent years the construction industry of Russia develops and increases the release of effective ceramic wall materials in the form of porous, hollow porous bricks, stones and blocks, with thermal conductivity down to 0,14-0,2 W/m?°C). Greater reduction in thermal conductivity (0,08-0,12) may be achieved by using ceramic foam wall blocks, which are not produced industrially in Russia yet. One reason is the lack of developed scientific and technological bases of their production, as well as the lack of standards, regulating main characteristics of ceramic foam materials. This article attempts to develop the requirements for the values of compressive strength, water absorption and thermal conductivity of foamed ceramics, i.e. to solve the urgent problems of modern materials - to promote diversification of efficient building materials. The dependence of ultimate compressive strength on average density was analyzed on the basis of a number of studies of native and foreign scientists, and was plotted for the range of density of 100 to 1200 kg/m3 using extrapolation, separately for heat-insulating, heat-insulating-and-construction and construction ceramic foam materials. That was necessary, because previously published data didn’t cover all the required range of density values, for example, only 190 to 600 kg/m3, or only 400 to 800 kg/m3. Therefore, extra values were calculated using extrapolation to cover the entire range of the average density of 100 to 1200 kg/m3, typical for heat-insulating, heat-insulating-and-construction and construction ceramic foam materials. Subsequently, new curves, based on calculated data, were obtained with analytical description. For the first time «manufacturability factor» N was introduced, in order to take into account the features of foamed ceramics production technology and their affect on the newly established standard values of foamed ceramics characteristics. That made it possible to determine basic values of the ultimate compressive strength, presented in the form of nomograms and tables, by calculations and graphical method on the basis of literature review of engineering and heat-insulating ceramic foam materials.
Keywords.Foamed ceramics, correlations, standards, «manufacturability factor» strength, density.
