Title of the articleMovements and forces in non-inertial frames of reference. The influence of Koriolis inertial force on the climate of the Earth
Abstract.Physicists prefer to deal with the inertial frames of reference (FR). However often it is more convenient to deal with the non-inertial FR. For example, the FR connected with the Earth is not strictly inertial one. That is caused mainly by the rotation of the Earth and its movement around the Sun. The deviations from strict inertiality appear in a number of phenomena such as larger steepness of the river’s right-hand banks on the North hemisphere and larger steepness of the river’s left hand-side banks – on the Southern hemisphere. Also deviations of falling masses from the vertical, origin of tropic winds as well as side deviations of rockets should be mentioned. Movement of masses in non-inertial FR may be described such as in inertial FR provided that so called «inertial forces» are introduced. These are: centrifugal and Koriolis ones and the forces caused by irregular rotation and translational acceleration of non-inertial FR. In the paper various phenomena associated with inertial forces are considered. Estimations for side deviations of rockets, for tropic winds as well as for other phenomena are made. The influence of Koriolis effect on the climate of the Earth is also discussed.
