Abstract. | Since ancient times, as it is known, Egyptians and Babylonians, peoples of oldest civilizations, have organized special gardens, where decorative plants from other countries have been cultivated. The history of the botanic gardens development in Russia and other countries – is the history of a lot of interesting domestic and foreign examples of ancient gardens and the history of introduction of exotic plants in them. There were eight main periods in world gardens development. The first one was connected with medical and pharmacological plants. The second one was connected with tulip flowers cultivation. Plants of North America have come to Europe at the third period. Plants of South Africa have come to Europe at the fourth period. The fifth period was the time of North America’s trees. Australian trees and plants have come to Europe at the sixth period. The seventh period was the time of greenhouses constructing. The eighth period was the time when Japanese and Chinese plants have come to Europe. |
