Abstract. | The article deals with the use of rigid pavement in the country. Rigid pavement compared to asphalt, have a number of advantages: they are more durable (can withstand the impact of heavy loads), more durable (battery life is 2-3 times higher than that of asphalt), and this is at approximately the same construction cost. In addition, the increase in traffic congestion of road transport (axle load, traffic, studded tires) negates all the effort and cost for the construction and repair of roads on highways with a coating of asphalt. There are certainly a number of unpleasant things, which inhibit the widespread use of concrete slabs and foundations. Here are the main shortcomings: the presence of expansion joints, rigid requirements for compliance technology installation and follow-up care for hardening concrete, destruction and exfoliation of the surface layer of concrete («peeling»), the formation of cracks. But as shown by analysis of the issue to date found many solutions that enable precede almost all the shortcomings of hard pavement (using a continuous reinforced concrete slabs, the use of high-strength concrete, the use of macro porous concrete, the use of recycled cement concrete, the use of new geosynthetic materials in the construction and repair of concrete slabs coatings). In addition, the methods of calculating rigid pavement should be improved in parallel with the emergence of new designs and new materials, that is, the issue is still relevant, as there is innovation in the design of processes, materials, and technologies. Therefore, the second part of the article contains the basic provisions on the calculation of rigid pavement, and also presents a method of calculation based on the stage of the limit equilibrium (that is, the stage immediately prior to their destruction), which provides significant savings in material and money and at the same time leads to increased reliability. |
