| Abstract. | Problem statement. The article analyses a significant stratum in the architectural heritage of the Nyzhneye Povolzhye – the Orthodox temples in classicism style of the first half of the 19th century in the Saratov region which have not got so far enough coverage and estimation. It has considered the formation of temples on the territory of Saratov and Volgograd regions which were parts of the Saratov province where this style has manifested itself more fully. Results. The importance of this research consists in the careful study of religious architecture in the Russian province and necessity of comprehending its regional peculiarity. It is also connected with the development of projects concerning restoration and building of new temples. Conclusions. Not only are extant churches for architectural, but also lost ones being analyzed here. For the first time certain documents from the RGIA, GASO, and GAVO archives are put into use. Some written resources and materials of investigation on location have been also made use of. |
