Title of the article | A program of experiments for material anisotropy main axes determination |
Abstract. | Offered a program of experiments needed to determine the principal axes of anisotropy of crystalline materials. Considered materials are not sensitive to the stress state and relations between the stress and strain tensors approach to Hooke's law when strain tends to zero asymptotically. To reduce the number of experiments it is necessary to know the orientation of the principal axes of the anisotropic material. Principal axes of the anisotropic material are the principal axes of strain tensor, which describes the response of the sample to the hydrostatic compression. During the test the change in size of the sample is measured to determine the components of the strain tensor. The developed program consists of three experiments uniaxial compression. In this paper is offered a modification of this experimental program, which allows you to perform all required tests. The experiment on the uniform compression define the main vectors of the strain tensor. Knowing the type of material anisotropy and orientation of the principal axes of anisotropy can reduce the number of one-and two-dimensional experiments required to find the components of the tensor of elasticity for all materials except the triclinic crystal systems. |
