Title of the article | Research and development of protective and water-proof water-dispersion polymer coatings |
Abstract. | Water-dispersion coatings gain more value when looking for the solution of a number of the environmental problems in the building sector. Their application and production aren't connected with the use of the toxic and fire-dangerous organic substances. The purpose of this work is the development of the new filled water-dispersion paint and lacquer materials with the advanced protective properties (at the concrete surfaces) based on acrylic emulsions and modified fillers. The objects chosen for the research are the following: titan dioxide of the R-08 brand (GOST 9808-84), MMS-1 chalk (GOST 12085-88), Mital microtalc MT-10-90 (TU 5727-001-40705684-2001), micromarble filler «Lim carb» (import), kaolin (laboratory sample, that was the subject of the ultrasonic treatment, the size of the particles is 1 micron) and styrene acrylic copolymer as a binding. The research of the protective properties of the coating has showed the advantage of the compositions containing kaolin that was the subject of the ultrasonic treatment. It is associated with formation of the active adsorption centers at the surface of the particles and the increase of its hydrophylic property. The water static influence and aggressive environment resistance helped to define a ratio between pigment, filler and binding. When the water affects the sample one can observed the maximum of the optical density changing caused by washing away of the cement stone through micropores of the coating. Sodium chloride solution originally causes abrupt cement stone washing away and then can lead to it destruction due to the crystallization process. However, in the kaolin containing compositions this process starts later and passes right under the surface. The additional compressive strength research of the cubes has also confirmed that the application of the kaolin having been the subject of the ultrasonic treatment increases protective properties at 1,5 to 2 times without decrease of the qualitative and decorative characteristics. The experimental data obtained testifies that the application of the kaolin having been the subject of the ultrasonic treatment in the traditional compounds of water-dispersion paints promotes the increasing of the protective properties of the coatings based on it. |
