| Abstract. | The article describes the common specificity of urban gardens of Kazan late XVIIIth and early XXth centuries. Chronological stages of Kazan urban gardens formation are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the period of late XVIIIth and early XXth centuries. This period can be characterized by the completely formed typology of Kazan gardens with a precise definition of urban public garden, as a public facility with features such as – walking, cultural and educational function, entertainment and amusement, shopping etc. Also this period is characterized by the rise and intensive urban gardens development. Urban gardens of the late XVIIIth and early XXth centuries are systematized in three main features, each group has its own individual architectural and planning features. We consider the nature of the lease in the area of urban gardens of Kazan, which appeared in the second half of XIXth century, as it was proper for the Russian Empire. The archetypes of public and departmental public gardens with the release of the architectural organization of the internal structure and the general situation of the period are under review, which are based on the analysis of archival, bibliographic, iconographic sources. Each archetype’s flowchart is composed. This information can be useful in practical activity – reconstruction and designing new landscape objects in Kazan historical center’s terms of development. Also it is useful as a material in the study of historical gardens of provincial and county-level cities of Russia. |
