Abstract. | Problem statement. The task is to identify the specific characteristics and typological features of the wooden architecture of the coastal areas of Kazan at the turn of the 19-20th centuries. Results. The architecture of the coastal areas of the Volga and Kazanka was dominated by manufacturing, warehouse and transport facilities; on the banks of Bulak, Caban, Black Lake – buildings of public and recreational purpose. The wooden, mainly professional architecture represented a variety of types of temporary and fixed buildings for inter-seasonal use. The style of architectural decisions was based on the use of frame-panel structures with limited inclusion of a simplified eclectic decor. Conclusion. The significance of the results obtained lies in the methodology for analyzing the wooden development of the coastal areas of a large historical city of the Volga region, using the example of Kazan, as well as in the architectural description of objects and the identification of typological features of structures located in different morphological zones. |
