Title of the article | The influence of metakaolin on the properties of cement systems |
Abstract. | Fine-grained concrete is a popular material due to a wide source of raw materials for its production. One of its drawbacks is the high consumption of cement and low strength in comparison with conventional concrete. To reduce these negative factors use different variants of mineral additives, one of which is metakaolin. Metakaolin has high pozzolanic activity and a high dispersion. Due to its high dispersibility increases the water requirement of the cement paste, which was shown in this work. Therefore, the proposed use of superplasticizer on the basis of the ether polycarboxylates, which significantly reduced the water requirement of cement systems. The use of metakaolin increases the setting time of cement paste with addition of superplasticizer and without it. Owing to their high activity metakaolin is possible to increase the amount of chemically bound water in the cement stone. The joint use of metakaolin and superplasticizer resulted in a significant increase in compressive strength fine-grained concrete in all stages of hardening. |
