Title of the article | Nakhchivan Bridges: Сrossroads of cultures and trade routes in the history of the region |
Abstract. | Problem statement. The study is devoted to the architectural analysis of the historical bridges of Ordubad, including the Aza, Bist I, Bist II, Yukhari Ayis I-IV, Bilav, and Alahi bridges. The purpose of the study is to examine the architectural features and engineering solutions of these structures, their role on caravan routes, and their significance as architectural monuments. The objectives of the study are: to determine the historical significance of the cities of Ordubad as ancient trading centers, to analyze the architectural structures of bridges and to identify their role as key elements of infrastructure on caravan routes. Results. The study revealed the significance and preservation status of the historical bridges of Ordubad. Detailed fieldwork was carried out, including photography, measurements, and collection of building material samples for laboratory analysis. The data obtained made it possible to determine the types of building materials used in the construction of the bridges and to evaluate their technical characteristics. Conclusions. The study highlights the importance of preserving and restoring Ordubads historic bridges as key elements of cultural heritage and infrastructure. Architectural analysis revealed a variety of design solutions used at different times, reflecting changes in construction technologies and cultural influences in the region. Preserving these bridges not only contributes to the historical understanding of the region but also maintains its cultural connections and tourism potential. |
