Title of the article | Rheological model of municipal solid waste |
Abstract. | Municipal solid waste (hereinafter MSW) represent the material similar to reinforced soil, for which the soil mechanic rules could be applied. During the study of MSW reinforced soil-like materials it is important to investigate the time-dependent phenomenas such as creep or stress relaxation. At general description of reinforced soil-like material the rheological propeties of reinforced matrix should be taken into account. The creep of reinforcement significantly influences on the general behaviour of reinforced soil-like material. During the research of reinforced soils and reinforced soil-like materials it is important to investigate such time-dependent effects as creep and stress relaxation. In general description of reinforced soil-like material, rheological properties of reinforced matrix should be taken into account. Creepage of the reinforcement has a significant effect on general behaviour of reinforced soil-like mass. Two types of behaviour are intrincsic to the simple model of elasto-plastic soil-like basic stratum of MSW, reinforced by viscous-elastic reinforced matrix. The first type corresponds to elastic soil-like stratum (type E-V) and second – to the plastic stratum (type P-V). For the description of elastic range of behaviour of soil-like stratum Hook law is accepted and for the description of its plastic properties – Mohr-Coulomb yield condition with associated flow rule. The reinfoced matrix performance is intended in one horisontal direction, which corresponds to the structure of MSW, forming during the waste placement The rheological model of MSW allows to predict the development of stress-strain state of waste body in time as well as settlement attenuation. The reliability of prediction depends on autheticity of the figures of physico-mechanical properties and rheological characteristics of mechanical creep and biological decay of waste, determined during the field and laboratory testing. |
