Abstract. | The reverberation of Moscow and Novgorod ancient traditions are found in the architecture of wooden temples, local architecture traditions, developed in various areas of the Russian North, are investigated in the work. The features of Moscow traditions include barrel shapes roofing, cross-squared barrels roofing and others, which are often found along the main trade routes of Onega and Northern Dvina Rivers, which link the center of the country with its suburbs in the North. A barrel shape was the basis for a further variety of solutions in architecture. One of them was cube roofing of churches. Area of distribution of this form was Onega region. This article contains the analysis of different architectural solutions of cube roofing, the information about evolution, variants of possible origin, interconnection of wooden elements with architecture of stone churches. |
