Title of the article | Influence of the emissivity of the surface of the prototype system on the accuracy of temperature measurement in the thermovision inspection |
Abstract. | The technical state assessment of building enclosures and power engineering equipment is considerably connected with the introduction of effective methods of instrument inspection, particularly with that of the thermal nondestructive testing method – the infrared diagnostics. The article considers the guidelines for the carrying out of the thermal imaging diagnostics and the basic factors influencing the accuracy of measurements are distinguished: solar radiation, the choice of emissivity, environmental conditions (wind, atmospheric precipitation). The emissivity factor of the surface of the prototype system exerts the most significant influence on the reliability of the temperature measurements. The accuracy of measurements is also influenced by the choice of the spectral range, in which the infrared device is operating. When measuring in the open air it is more preferable to use the long wavelength (8-12 microns) thermal imaging systems, since they are more sensitive to the direct and reflected solar radiation, as well as the diffuse solar radiation and the emission of artificial lighting sources, than the short wavelength (2-5 microns) ones. The presented thermographs of different objects illustrate the areas, the measured brightness temperatures of which are evidently overrated or underrated as compared to the true temperatures. |
