| Title of the article | The Effect of ferrochrome aluminothermic Slag on the Chemical Resistance of Acid-resistant Tiles |
| Abstract. | Problem statement. The exhaustion of natural alumina-silicate raw materials for the production of acid-resistant materials has necessitated the substitution of natural raw materials to large-tonnage industrial waste, which, with their enormous accumulations in the Russian Federation, also cause catastrophic damage to environmental systems. That’s why the purpose of the work is to analyze the influence of ferrochrome aluminothermic slag on the chemical resistance of acid-resistant materials obtained on the basis of the clay part of the gravity "tails" of zircon-ilmenite ores. The tasks of the study are as follows: to specify the key parameters of ferrochrome aluminothermic slag as a leaner and the clay part of the gravity "tails" of zircon-ilmenite ores as a refractory clay component for the production of acid-resistant tiles with increased acid resistance; to consider the possibility of the return of man-made metallurgy raw materials into exploitation and recommend well-reasoned scientifically proven composition based on them for acid-resistant materials; to analyze the effect of ferrochrome aluminothermic slag containing an increased concentration of aluminum oxide (Al2O3>50%) on the acid resistance of ceramic tiles. Results. The analysis of the study showed that samples (acid-resistant tiles) from compositions containing increased amounts of iron oxides (Fe2O3 -6,74 and 6,98%, respectively) and open pores (7,19 and 6,53%), into which sulfuric acid can flow, are most severely damaged, therefore, the acid resistance of tiles of these compositions are 97,8 and 98,05, respectively. And samples from the composition, which use ferrochrome aluminothermic slag containing an increased amount of aluminum (Al2O3>50%) as a leaner, in addition to low concentrations of iron oxides (Fe2O3 -3,87%) and open pores (5,05%), also contain highly refractory minerals (fire resistance exceeds 2000oC), which significantly increase not only fire resistance, but also acid resistance. Conclusions. It was found that at a firing temperature of 1300 ° C, the analyzed tiles of compositions that do not contain ferrochrome aluminothermic slag are characterized by a high content of iron oxides and open pores, therefore, the acid resistance of these samples does not exceed 98%. The introduction of slag into the composition increases the acid resistance to 99,2%. |
