Title of the article | FORCE AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE HURRICANE ON JULY 8, 2007 |
Abstract. | The most massive movement of air masses took place in Kazan on July 8, 2007. It has inflicted multiple damages and destruction of housing zone buildings, mainly of small sizes (e.g. advertisement constructions, building decoration elements, flagpoles, protecting fences, and low-rise building roofs), and green plantations (single trees and part of the forest belt). The meteorological service registered the wind speed at 30 meters per second, which is 30% higher than the normative wind speed for Kazan, corresponding to the second wind area (w= 30 kg/m2, V= 22.2 m/sec). The consequences of this hurricane are considered in this article; the structural damages of such advertisement structures as advertisement hoardings (shields) are analyzed. The comparison of the structure collapse data at the actually registered wind speed and that at the normative wind speed in Kazan is given. |
