Title of the article | Development and improvement of coastal areas in the central part of large cities by placing objects of sports on quays |
Abstract. | Historically, cities formed on the shores of seas and rivers and water bodies played an essential role in their life. Quays were areas for placing trade squares, industrial factories, docks and warehouses. Since the middle of the XX century grows the need of the cities for the aesthetic development of quays. Reconstruction of waterfronts, developing of their infrastructure for various activities and leisure of citizens becomes one of the priorities of today's large cities. However, nowadays coastal areas in large cities are exploitated inefficiently for several reasons: lack of organized access to the water, lack of waterfront housing, whose residents could actively exploit the space of the quays, non-availability of attractive objects and services. One of the most effective ways to attract people to the quays is placing on them unique objects and infrastructure for recreation. The example of such object is performed by «Kazanka river» sports object for high-diving which was placed on the Kremlin quay in Kazan, 2014. Experience of placing water-sports infrastructure on the waterfront of Kazan demonstrates using of quay as a site for major sports projects, which ensures the involvement of many people and reveals the potential of the coastal territory. |
