| Abstract. | Large scale construction makes a design development very important and complex process. Nowadays there is a necessity to use a wide range of new building materials and new technologies as well as significant change in current requirements for «a good» quality of construction. Because of all these things the main design task becomes interprofessional. Experts from developed countries talk about «bad» quality of a design in Russia. Moreover RF has got the adoption to join the WTO, and this would increase competitiveness among Russian and European professionals therefore it is a challenge to gain European level of design. This paper analyses the current design process and the role of architect in it using project of an office building as the example of proper and «good» design. A design process has become much more complex than 20-30 years ago, has become longer, the cost of time of a design is comparably close to a construction period. A building project is becoming as much detailed like if it is auto engineering. In order to realise good construction it is important to develop proper construction documents and design instruments at a design level. There is a few important things which are unusual to traditional view of an architect’s work such as: a) multistage design documentation, b) communication with other project team participants and c) project management. This paper describes a comprehensive and consistent approach to the design process. The author develops a model of the project, which could provide good quality of the construction. As stated above, these three components of a project form a new model of a design process. This model shows the importance of interaction of actors. Nowadays in order to be able to compete on the European market of construction, it is necessary to change a project process and modify the old model of the architect as a professional. This requires further study of this process, the development of new models of this profession and their implementation in real practice and in study process. |
