Title of the article | Gender metaphors in the architecture of the modern city |
Abstract. | Problem statement. The goal of the research is to reveal the tendencies of the manifestation of gender metaphors in the architectural environment of the modern city. Results. The main results of the research consist in the identification of modern trends in the manifestation of gender metaphors in the architectural environment of the city: the expansion of the semantic field of feminine gender-activity, multitasking, autonomy are interpreted as feminine characteristics; Artistic images of large architectural ensembles often refer to androgynous metaphors; There is interaction of gender metaphors of different time periods. A significant result of the study was the introduction of classifications of gender metaphors in content (feminine, masculine, androgynous) and expressive means (plastic metaphors, object-symbol metaphors, psychological and social metaphors). Conclusions. The significance of the obtained results for the architecture is that the revealed tendencies can serve as a guide in determining the relevance of the gender metaphors used in the architectural project and the correspondence of their content to the requirements of the modern socio-cultural situation. The proposed classifications of gender metaphors contribute to the formation of a gender approach in architecture, simplify the use of gender metaphors as a special expressive tool in the design of an architectural environment. |
