Abstract. | This article discusses the current trends in the construction of residential environment, as an example of multicultural cities. Revealed a phenomenon as a social – spatial segregation, actively developing in modern cities. The relevance of the study of this process is associated primarily with the speed of its development and the influence exerted on the formation of urban infrastructure. A similar process for urban development has negative consequences as introduce a reduction of qualitative characteristics of housing units in less prestigious areas, the appearance of disunity residents, and social tensions between them. Causes and features of occurrence of spatial differentiation in the structure of the city are different, but the basic can be designated a different level of income of the population and a large influx of migrants. On the example of the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, considered the development of the phenomenon. Despite the fact that in the cities of Russia social segregation is a new phenomenon, it has almost completely replaced the idea of social cohesion and the city promoted by the Soviet Union. In the context of the study of this phenomenon is considered a trend of residential environment in the Russian cities such as Moscow and Kazan. |
