Title of the articleContemporary problems and technologies of trash recycling in Russia and abroad
Abstract.The pictures of steaming dumps, heaps of thrown out rubbish, overflowing garbage cans are well-known to many city dwellers in Russia. Our country produces about 60 million tons of solid waste each year. The problem of destruction of such a huge mass of debris can be classified as environmental. The bulk of the waste is buried in landfills, most of which has exhausted their resources. Compared with Western Europe, waste management in Russia has a number of features. Chief among them – the harsh climate and the collection of all waste in the total container without pre-sorting. The volume of industrial processing and waste recycling in the country is still very small. Now there are only seven plants for thermal processing of waste. At the present time in the world successfully operates a number of ways of storing and processing of municipal solid waste: pre-sorting of waste; sanitary earthen backfill; incineration; pyrolysis; biothermal composting; recycling of flammable waste; processing of rotting waste; processing of used tires; lines of dismantling old cars; disposal of medical waste. These advanced technologies will help the human to solve the problem of waste recycling and to create additional local sources of energy and heat at the same time. Thus, we hope, that the trash can back to the people not in the form of landfills and contaminated water as well as electricity, heat and vegetables and fruits, were grown in greenhouses.
