| Abstract. | The article describes the development of specialization in architectural practice from the beginning of XX century to the present day. This article lists and describes more than 20 specializations in architectural practice and established the relationship between them, and in some cases, the comparison between the majors in foreign and domestic architectural practice. In the article there is a chronological map of specializations in profession of architect, from the early twentieth century to the present. Historically intensification of professional knowledge leads to new specializations inside the architectural profession through segregation special activities – lamination of the profession: urban planner, urban designer, interior designer, etc. Beside the architectural profession is enriched by the influx of new professionals and knowledge from other areas, this process is called expanding of the profession: city sociologist and cultural studies specialists, architect-programmer, architect-engineer, manufacturers and factories technologists, etc. Specialization within the profession of architect and segregation of different specialists took place in two ways. The first way – the emergence of specialization by the type of the project: planning the city – urban planner, landscaping and - landscape architect, organization of architectural object environment – the architect-designer, etc. The second way – specialization by the function in the design process: the organization and management of the project – chief project architect (project architect), external relations with the customer, matching authorities, building contractors – project manager; development of documentation for the construction –architect-designer, etc. Historically specialization by the type of the project in architectural profession could be identified in the development of academic programs. Specialization by the function has placed in practice in the architectural offices. |
